The Last Lecture

"Almost all of us have childhood dreams; for example, being an astronaut, or making movies or video games for a living. Sadly, most people don’t achieve theirs, and I think that’s a shame. I had several specific childhood dreams, and I’ve actually achieved most of them.  More importantly, I have found ways, in particular the creation (with Don Marinelli), of CMU’s Entertainment Technology Center of helping many young people actually *achieve* their childhood dreams." - Randy Pausch, Oct. 23, 1960 - July 25, 2008

Here is the book by Randy Pausch, I have very little to add. Watch it, read it, be grateful, achieve your childhood dreams...

Rich Dad Poor Dad

I would like to put my 2 cents about this book. The book definitely deserves attention however there are some conditions when you are really don’t want to waste your time on it.

My story and the book.
When I first got the book from my friend I knew very little about personal finances and reading it for me was well spent time.  It triggered in me process of continuous learning about the subject and yes it inspired me, for very little period of time though.  So if you consider yourself as an educated person on personal finances and entrepreneurship subjects the book will be boring for you. Robert Kiyosaki obviously is lucking literary skills. Although I enjoyed overall reading the book I would like to point out few things that I really didn’t like about it. The first part of the book is written as software developers would say like “spaghetti code” a lot of stuff around and not to the point. I can understand why he did it but still I’m convinced it wasn’t necessary.

So here is my verdict:
Read it if you are:

1. Novice in personal finance field
2. Never thought about where you stand financially
3. Have no idea where to start

I would not recommend reading it if you are:

1. Far in personal finances learning path
2. Financially well educated
3. Already on your way to financial success

Kudos to Kiyosaki and his crew for turning brochure type book into profitable business.  Here is a link to The Rich Dad Company http://www.richdad.com/
