I pull credit bureau reports on my self on regular basis it's quite important to keep you credit bureau's information up to date and correct, may be more important to keep it correct. It's important for various reasons and in recession times probably more important than ever. So I follow my regular procedure and pulled credit report online and found inaccurate information on my report so I decided to call TransUnion customer service and talk to them about how to correct the information. I brought up TransUnion web-site where customer service phones are published and since they are located at Hamilton Ontario and it meant a long distance call for me I decided to call toll free phone number, well what can I say I spend about 40 minutes just waiting for the customer representative to pick up the phone, after that I experienced high level frustration because the person on the other end of the line barely spoke English! I got to the India call centre. How do I know? I actually asked the person where they are located and he told me in India. It really concerns me when my SIN number is available to the people outside of Canada. Any way my call to 800 number was pretty much useless. I hung up the phone and took a deep breath. I still needed to update my information somehow. Then it stroke me, what if to call a local number, I mean 905 number. And Bingo! After 3 or 4 rings I heard sweet Canadian guy who was able to help me in a matter of seconds. Conclusion: although I made a long distance call it was worth it every penny.
What is your experience with TransUnion customer service?
